Have you ever wondered which competences should be acquired by children in order for them to become responsible citizens in today’s democratic societies?
With this new short 2-hour course, you will get an overview of the Council of Europe Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture and understand why the competences – Values, Attitudes, Skills and Knowledge and Critical understanding – it identifies are important for contemporary societies and democracy. The course also gives suggestions on how to develop Competences for Democratic Culture in the classroom.
The course targets education professionals but is also open to general public. It is offered free of charge upon simple registration.
The ‘Key to Competences for Democratic Culture’ is the second course in the new ‘Keys’ series of short online courses developed in the framework of the LEMON project (‘LEarning Modules ONline’) of the Council of Europe Education Department.
The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted that online learning and courses can be highly beneficial when one wishes to acquire knowledge in an interrupted and quick manner.
