On November 3-4 the Council of Europe organised a videoconference entitled “Digital Citizenship Education Days” in conjunction with the Etats généraux du numérique pour l’éducation organised by the French Ministry of National Education, Youth and Sports.
The videoconference brought together over 300 participants including policy makers, school principals, educators, parents and academics from 36 European countries.
The event started with the presentation of the Council of Europe’s concept of digital citizenship education followed by two keynote presentations on the impact of digital citizenship on the use of technology in education and how the COVID-19 crisis turned into an opportunity for educators to upskill their digital skills, respectively.
During the parallel sessions moderated by Council of Europe experts on digital citizenship education, participants were presented Council of Europe policies and resources as well as educational and projects initiatives in teacher training, in schools and in policy development.
The videoconference also presented the top finding of the Digital Citizenship Education Survey 2020 which drew a lot of interest. More than 50 participants showed interest in contributing to or participating in the interviews to be conducted to collect further feedback to enrich the survey report.
