Back EPAS Round table on the integrity in sport

EPAS Round table on the integrity in sport

On 8 June 2023, in Strasbourg, the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS) held its annual meeting. The Deputy Secretary General, Bjørn Berge, participated in a round table  organised on the integrity in sport during the meeting.

In his opening remarks, the Deputy Secretary General, said that “We all need to do more, so that no parent should ever have to hesitate when thinking about whether to register their child at a sports club. Everybody should have the right to enjoy a positive experience of sport without discrimination or abuse. The Declaration on Sport Integrity that you will examine after this round table, embodies the spirit of the European Sports Charter stating “that all stakeholders should play their role in upholding integrity in every aspect of sport”.

Representatives of governments, the judiciary, anti-corruption stakeholders, the sport movement, and athletes discussed means and measures to uphold sport integrity and welcomed the work of the international network of magistrates and prosecutors responsible for sport (MARS) as an instrumental step towards greater sport integrity.
