Cyprus Chairmanship Conference in Nicosia: 'Securing Democracy through Education'

Education to fight violent extremism and radicalisation leading to terrorism.

Education to build Inclusive Societies, valuing diversity and dialogue.

Education to create a provision for refugees, from short term solutions to long term integration.

These major challenges that Education systems are currently facing in Europe and elsewhere will constitute the main topics of the international conference 'Securing Democracy through Education' (programme), organised in the framework of the Cyprus Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, in Nicosia (Filoxenia Conference Centre, 22-23 March).

The event will be opened by the Minister of Education and Culture of Cyprus, Costas Kadis together with Council of Europe Deputy Secretary General, Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni and the European Commissioner on Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Tibor Navracsics.

Ministers of Education from State parties to the European Cultural Convention will participate along with Ministers of Education from South Mediterranean areas and policy experts representing a total of 39 countries.
