On 16, 18 and 20 November 2020, the project “Action against corruption in the Republic of Moldova” facilitated 4 expert meetings with the Superior Council of Prosecutors (SCP), Ministry of Justice, General Prosecution Office and the Legal Resources Centre. The purpose of the meetings was to discuss possible ways to improve the framework governing the disciplinary liability of prosecutors in line with GRECO 4th round evaluation and compliance report recommendations.

The assessment aimed to review possible ways to enhance the effectiveness of the disciplinary liability of prosecutors as well as the functional independence of the Prosecutorial Inspection, including by examining the possibility of transferring the Prosecutorial Inspection from the General Prosecution Office to the Superior Council of Prosecutors. Following this assessment, the project will deliver recommendations for changes to the legislative and institutional framework governing the disciplinary liability of prosecutors, including by providing recommendations for setting up a system of confidential counselling within the Superior Council of Prosecutors.

This activity was organized within the framework of the project “Action against corruption in the Republic of Moldova”, funded by the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the US Department of State and implemented by the Council of Europe.
