First meeting of the new Committee of Experts on Hate Crime PC/ADI-CH

The first meeting of the new Committee of Experts on Hate Crime (PC/ADI-CH) was held in a hybrid format in Strasbourg on 16-17 February 2022.

The Committee of Experts is tasked with preparing a comprehensive draft Recommendation on combating hate crime. This recommendation will complement and advance existing Council of Europe and international standards in the area of hate crime and build on findings and recommendations by monitoring bodies and the relevant case law of the European Court of Human Rights. The first meeting of the Committee was dedicated to exploring the scope and structure of the eventual Recommendation.

The Committee of Experts on Hate Crime is subordinated to two steering committees, the European Committee on Crime Problems (CDPC) and the Steering Committee on Anti-Discrimination, Diversity and Intolerance (CDADI).

The first meeting brought together over 30 national experts and representatives from partner organisations and agencies working to prevent and combat hate crime in Europe and beyond, including from the United Nations (UN), European Union (EU) and the Organisation for Co-operation and Security in Europe (OSCE).
