Germany supports enhanced public awareness raising ahead of the Summit

Director of Communications Daniel Holtgen presented the Council of Europe’s new initiative to reach out to the general public in all the 46 member states to further enhance the knowledge and understanding of the general public about the mandate and important work of the organisation, as well as the preparations for the upcoming Reykjavik Summit, to officials of the German Federal Foreign Office and of the Chancellory. Germany strongly supports efforts to increase the organisation’s visibility including through events in the country. Mr Holtgen also discussed the possibility of joint thematic events with Stefan Vopel, Director of the Berlin office of the Bertelsmann Foundation, a long-standing partner of the Council of Europe.
