The first meeting of the Consultation and Outreach Group (CAHAI-COG) took place on 5 and 6 October 2020. The Group is responsible for developing proposals for the Ad hoc Committee on Artificial Intelligence (CAHAI) on the preparation and organisation of the broad multi-stakeholder consultation, which will take place in 2021.
Taking into account experiences and lessons learnt from other similar consultations at international and national level on artificial intelligence, the Group discussed how to ensure that CAHAI’s work ahead should take into account the views of a wide range of stakeholders, such as industry, academia, technical communities, civil society, national human rights institutions and other international and national organisations, citizens, on key aspects of the feasibility study of a legal framework on the design, the development and application of artificial intelligence (AI) based on Council of Europe standards, which is currently under preparation.
The experts exchanged on how to map stakeholders and methodologies and tools for undertaking consultations at international and national levels and how to ensure close cooperation and coordination with the Policy and Development Group (CAHAI-PDG).
The CAHAI-COG’s next meeting will take place on 5-6 November 2020.
