Meeting of Globalpolicy.AI

On 4 March 2024, the Artificial Intelligence Unit of the Council of Europe hosted the latest meeting of Globalpolicy.AI, a cooperation platform involving multiples intergovernmental organisations with complementary mandates on artificial intelligence (AI). It brings together the Council of Europe, the European Commission, the Fundamental Rights Agency, the Inter-American Development Bank, the OECD, the Office of UN Secretary General's Envoy on Technology, the UNESCO and the World Bank.

The regular activities and meeting organised within this framework are also part of the Committee on Artificial Intelligence’s (CAI) external cooperation and coordination efforts.

The meeting, which took place in the Council of Europe’s Paris office in a hybrid format, was devoted to a tour de table of the participants’ ongoing AI-related activities. Ms Louise Riondel, Co-Secretary to the CAI, updated the group on the state of play of the negotiations of the Council of Europe’s Framework Convention on AI, as well as on the elaboration of the Methodology for the risk and impact assessment of AI systems.
