Consultation of the Parties
The Consultation of the Parties is the second monitoring body established by the Tromsø Convention under its Article 12.
Being more of a political body the Consultation of the Parties is composed of one representative per Party. It shall meet at least once every four years to consider the reports, opinions and proposals submitted by the Group of Specialists. An activity report shall be submitted by the Consultation of the Parties to the Committee of Ministers after each meeting. The Consultation of the Parties elects the members of the Group of Specialists.
The Consultation of the Parties can make proposals and recommendations to the Parties, make proposals or formulate opinions on any proposal for the amendment of the Tromsø Convention under Article 19.
The first meeting of the Consultation of the Parties is envisaged to be held during the fall 2021.
