Anti-rumours Training for Finnish municipalities

A two-day training on Anti-rumours was conducted under the EU / CoE Joint Project on “Building an inclusive integration approach in Finland” on 24-25 October 2023 in Helsinki.

Representatives of the municipalities participating in the project (Hämeenlinna, Kuopio, Tampere, Turku, Vaasa and Vantaa) attended the training which focused on the importance of reducing stereotypes and prejudices by recognising their multi-dimensional and complex nature.

The training provided by the Council of Europe (ICC) expert Daniel de Torres deepened the knowledge of the key concepts of the strategy and provided the necessary tools to enable the Finnish cities to design and implement an anti-rumours strategy in a practical and participatory way.

During the sessions, working groups were set up and participants were asked to discuss and make concrete proposals for the design of an anti-rumours strategy, based on the realities of the Finnish context.

Within the project, several training courses will continue to be organised depending on the needs and priorities identified by the Finnish municipalities.

The joint project “Building an inclusive integration approach in Finland” is co-funded by the European Union via the Technical Support Instrument and the Council of Europe, and implemented by the Council of Europe in co-operation with the European Commission.
