 A high-level conference on Social Rights - the European Social Charter, hosted by the Council of Europe and the Republic of Moldova, will take place at the Palace of the Republic. Opening statements will be delivered by the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, and Secretary General Alain Berset.

The opening session will also feature institutional statements from Petra Bayr, President of the Parliamentary Assembly; Marc Cools, President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities; Mattias Guyomar, President of the European Court of Human Rights; Michael O’Flaherty, Commissioner for Human Rights; Carlo Monticelli, Governor of the Council of Europe Development Bank; and Aoife Nolan, President of the European Committee of Social Rights.

The conference will bring together ministers and senior officials responsible for social rights and social policy, representatives of the European Union institutions, United Nations and the International Labour Organisation, as well as representatives of civil society, social partners, academia, national human rights institutions, equality bodies and their European networks.

The start of the conference will be open to the media upon prior accreditation.

A press corner will be available for interviews with participants.

Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in English, French and Romanian.
