Study Visit of Ukrainian judicial authorities on the execution of the Court’s judgments

On 11-12 March, the Department for the Execution of Judgments hosted the study visit of several Ukrainian judicial bodies, notably the Supreme Court, the High Council of Justice, and the High Qualification Commission of Judges, with the participation of the Government Agent of Ukraine before the European Court of Human Rights and the Permanent Representation of Ukraine to the Council of Europe.

The study visit aimed at facilitating in-depth expert discussions on the progress made and the outstanding measures required for the execution of the Court’s judgments concerning the independence and effectiveness of the judiciary.

The event also served as a platform for a dialogue between the Ukrainian authorities and the representatives of other relevant Council of Europe bodies, focusing notably on the issues of judicial discipline and career, as well as efficiency of justice.

The measures for strengthening the independence and impartiality of the judiciary and the reform of the judicial discipline system in Ukraine are followed by the Committee of Ministers in the framework of the execution of the Oleksandr Volkov group of cases.
