On 25 January, the Department for the Execution of Judgments met the President of the Ukrainian Supreme Court, Mr Stanislav Kravchenko. The meeting focused on the Ukrainian cases, scheduled to be examined by the Committee of Ministers at its Human Rights meetings in 2024. Most importantly, at its March meeting the Committee will assess the measures taken to strengthen the judicial independence and to reform the system of judicial discipline, in response to the Court’s judgments and the Committee’s previous indications.
The Supreme Court President thanked the Department for the long-standing fruitful cooperation and informed about the recent developments as well as the challenges currently faced by the highest court of Ukraine and the efforts made to overcome those.
The meeting was organised in the framework of the Council of Europe project “Support to the functioning of justice in the war and post-war context in Ukraine.”
