On 5-6 November, the Department for the execution of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights made a visit to Croatia.
The Head of Department, Frédéric Dolt, took part in a conference marking 30 years of Croatia's membership in the Council of Europe and the signing of the European Convention on Human Rights. He made a presentation about effective execution of judgments of the Court as a means of preventing future violations.
He also had a meeting with representatives of the authorities, including the Ministry of Health, to discuss the Croatian cases pending execution, in particular the Petrović and Others judgment. This case concerns a violation of the right to respect for family life on account of the authorities’ failure to provide the applicants with credible information as to the fate of their babies who had allegedly not died after birth but were abducted from maternity hospitals. The case was first examined by the Committee of Ministers in September 2026.
This visit was organised with the support from the Office of the Representative of the Republic of Croatia before the European Court of Human Rights and National Coordinator for the execution of the Court's judgments.
