European Audiovisual Observatory celebrates ten years by a conference and book launch
	The European Audiovisual Observatory marked its tenth anniversary by launching a book on transparency in the audiovisual sector and by holding a conference on the theme, on 17 January 2003. Twenty five experts from all over Europe attended the conference. They tackled the need for transparency in the European audiovisual sector, the legal framework, digitalisation and new services, and whether the sector is on the verge of a financial crisis. Greater transparency to combat piracy
		In order to provide proper protection against piracy, the legislation governing royalties needs to be clear and comprehensible. The European Audiovisual Observatory
Set up in December 1992, the European Audiovisuel Observatory is the only centre of its kind to gather and circulate information on the audiovisual industry in Europe.
