12-20 July 2014
The Summer Academy offers training in education for democratic citizenship and human rights (EDC/HRE) to teams of school heads, teachers and representatives from the local community, such as parents or NGOs.
The academy combines a one week face to face training in Warsaw/Sulejówek, Poland, and a 10 month online follow-up, as well as preparatory tasks.
Closely linked to the participants’ own experiences and expectations, the training uses a whole school approach, focusing on school governance, teaching methods, classroom climate and partnership with the local community.
A part of the training is for each team to develop and implement an action plan, describing challenges and concrete measures on how to promote and incorporate the principles of EDC and HRE in their local community, all supported and facilitated by one of the trainers via the online platform Share&Connect.
The Summer Academy aims to initiate and strengthen cooperation between the participating countries by the exchanges of experiences and good practices in the field, and is available for participants from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine (the Eastern Partnership countries), Poland and Russia.
The Summer Academy: Democracy at School is a cooperation between the Polish Ministry of National Education, Centre for Education Development, Poland, The European Wergeland Centre and Council of Europe, and is based on the shared values and principles of these institutions.
Working languages: ENGLISH, RUSSIAN, with simultaneous translation.
