Challenging anti-Muslim Prejudice and Promotion of Mutual Understanding in Multicultural Societies through Education

Challenging anti-Muslim Prejudice and Promotion of Mutual Understanding in Multicultural Societies through Education

On 5 July 2013, a round table on “Challenging anti-Muslim Prejudice and Promotion of Mutual Understanding in Multicultural Societies through Education” will bring together in Strasbourg about 30 participants, including decision makers, civil society organisations and education practitioners from Eastern Europe.

The meeting is the third regional event which aims to promote the “Guidelines for Educators on Countering Intolerance against Muslims: Addressing Islamophobia through Education” (published by ODIHR, UNESCO and the Council of Europe in 2011) and to raise awareness of the role of education in this area.

The participants will discuss how the Guidelines can be used in different educational settings and which complementary activities and tools need to be developed for this purpose.
