Following its adoption by the Slovenian National Assembly in October 2016, the new Family Violence Prevention Act will enter into force on 19 November 2016. This Act stipulates that according to slovene legislation, corporal punishment of children is prohibited in all settings.

Slovenia thus becomes the 30th Council of Europe member State to ban corporal punishment of children in all settings.
