Terry Davis, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, paid an official visit to Rome on 10 and 11 February 2005 to discuss the preparations of the Summit of Council of Europe Heads of State and Government.
The fight against terrorism, the functioning of the European Court of Human Rights and issues relating to trafficking in human beings were also discussed.
He met Vice-President of the Ministers’ Council and Foreign Minister Gianfranco Fini,
Roberto Castelli, Minister of Justice,
Jole Santelli, Vice-Minister of Justice and Vice-Minister of the Interior Michele Saponara.
The Secretary General had meetings with the President of the Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee Fiorello Provera, the President of the Deputies Chamber’s Foreign Affairs Committee Gustavo Selva, and members of the Italian delegation to the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly.
