Brigitte Zypries: ''The Code Civil is, and remains an exemplary model for the formulation of law''

Brigitte Zypries, Minister of Justice of the Federal Republic of Germany, said at the opening of the conference how surprised she was by the ''modernism and continuity'' of the Civil Code. ''By building on the achievements of the past, it met the challenges of the present,'' she said. The Minister added that this would also be true nowadays, and that the ''magnetism'' of the Code endured.
