Greece and the Council of Europe Accession Greece became the 11st member State of the Council of Europe on 9 August 1949.

Budget
The Council of Europe's ordinary budget for 2009 is € 205 002 000. The contribution of Greece is € 3 192 086.14 (i.e. 1.5571 %).
