Croatia and the Council of Europe

Accession
Croatia became the 40th member State of the Council of Europe on 6 November 1996.

Committee of Ministers
- Gordan JANDROKOVIC, Minister for Foreign Affairs and European Integration
- Vesna BATISTIĆ-KOS, Chargée d’affaires a.i. to the Council of Europe since December 2008.

Parliamentary Assembly
Croatia is represented in the Parliamentary Assembly by a delegation of 5 representatives and 5 substitutes, including:
- Frano MATUSIĆ (EPP/CD), head of the delegation and Parliamentary Assembly Vice-President.

Congress of Local and Regional Authorities
Croatia is represented in the Congress by a delegation of 5 representatives and 5 substitutes, including:
- Dubravka SUICA (EPP/CD), Dubrovnik, head of the delegation, Vice-President of the Congress and Vice-President of the Chamber of Local Authorities.

Budget
The Council of Europe's ordinary budget for 2009 is € 205 002 000. The contribution of Croatia is € 607 010.92 (i.e. 0.2961 %).

Human Rights
Ratification of the European Convention on Human Rights on 5 November 1997.
- Judge to the European Court of Human Rights: Nina VAJIĆ.
