Austria became the 15th member State of the Council of Europe on 16 April 1956.

Parliamentary Assembly

Austria is represented in the Congress by a delegation of 6 representatives and 6 substitutes, including:

- Hilde ZACH (EPP/CD), Innsbruck, Vice-President of the Congress and Vice-President of the Chamber of Local Authorities.
Budget
The Council of Europe's ordinary budget for 2009 is € 205 002 000. The contribution of Austria is € 3 654 980.66 (i.e 1.7829 %).
