October 4-7, the Council of Europe Project “Internal Displacement in Ukraine: Building Solutions” in cooperation with NGO “Association of Scientists-IDPs” organized a workshop “Weekend of Opportunities” held in Odessa.
The event was aimed at strengthening the capacities of internally displaced teachers through improving their competences to promote and protect human rights and to establish the networks for further development of the displaced institutions of higher education.
During the event participants exchanged their experience in overcoming the negative consequences of the displacement, shared the ways of solving the problems their institutions faced. They presented professional achievements and reflected on innovative tools of international cooperation.
25 representatives of displaced universities and think-tanks currently located in Luhansk, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Vinnitsya, Kharkiv and Kyiv region were present.
Agenda of the activity was based on the previously defined learning needs of the participants. They attended sessions on the protection of human rights of IDPs; explored the requirements for Scopus and Web of Science publications; discovered different resources of Council of Europe as well as “Erasmus +” and “Horizon 2020” programs to be used in their practice.
Participants shared their experience on international cooperation in the field of research, skills development, training and individual mobility.
The event reflects the mission of the Project to empower internally displaced persons in Ukraine as agents of change by ensuring direct participation and agency of IDPs in each activity of the Project.
