Statement by Head of Council of Europe Office in Ukraine in observance of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25 and the accompanying 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, 2021

"Orange the World: END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN NOW!": Statement by Head of Council of Europe Office in Ukraine Steen Nørlov in observance of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25 and the accompanying 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, 2021:

“Everybody should feel safe at home.

Combatting domestic violence against women is needed.

The Council of Europe Convention on Combatting Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence (the Istanbul Convention) would give the Ukrainian government the tools to address this problem.

The Convention aims to prevent violence, protect victims, prosecute the perpetrators and create comprehensive policies.

Ratification of the Convention would help Ukraine and would help the Ukrainian women.”
