Representatives of institutions and co-ordination bodies from across Bosnia and Herzegovina strengthened their capacities to prepare comprehensive and evidence-based responses for the first thematic evaluation round of the Group of Experts on Action against Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (GREVIO).
Two workshops, held in Bjelašnica on 31 March and 1 April and in Neum on 29 and 30 June 2026, supported the preparation of responses to the GREVIO thematic questionnaire under the theme “Building Trust by Delivering Support, Protection and Justice”. The activities brought together representatives of co-ordination mechanisms and relevant institutions from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republika Srpska and Brčko District, including professionals from the judiciary, police, social welfare and health sectors.
The first workshop established a common methodology for approaching the questionnaire and helped participants identify the institutions, data and examples needed for reliable reporting. Building on this foundation, the second workshop enabled a more detailed examination of draft responses prepared by the three jurisdictions. Participants jointly analysed selected questions, identified missing information and agreed on ways to make the responses clearer, more direct and better supported by evidence.
The discussions highlighted common challenges, including fragmented and insufficiently disaggregated data, limited possibilities for following cases through different stages of the institutional response, and gaps in information on the accessibility and territorial coverage of services.
As a result of the workshops, participating institutions reached a clearer and more consistent understanding of the requirements of the GREVIO evaluation process. They identified concrete areas in which additional information and stronger institutional co-ordination are required and agreed that responses should distinguish clearly between measures already implemented and those that are still in the planning stage.
This training was organised as part of the project “Strengthening Bosnia and Herzegovina’s responses to digital and sexual violence against women”, implemented by the Council of Europe under the Action Plan for Bosnia and Herzegovina 2026–2029 and funded through voluntary contributions by Belgium.
