The international conference “Transition of Unaccompanied Migrant Children into Adulthood” will take place on 3 July 2026 in Ankara, Türkiye, in an online format, within the framework of the Strengthening the Protection of Unaccompanied Migrant Children in Türkiye Project, implemented by the Council of Europe and funded by Sweden.
The conference will bring together representatives of public institutions, social workers, civil society organisations working in the fields of human rights, migration and child protection, international organisations, legal professionals, child protection experts, psychosocial support professionals, academics, and other relevant stakeholders from Türkiye and Council of Europe member States.
Participants will discuss challenges, needs, and good practices related to the transition of unaccompanied migrant children into adulthood, with a particular focus on safeguarding their rights and ensuring continuity of protection, care, psychosocial support, and inclusion mechanisms.
Topics to be addressed
• Legal protection and access to rights in the transition to adulthood for unaccompanied migrant children
• Psychosocial wellbeing, resilience and support mechanisms during the transition process
• Good practices and effective support systems promoting independent living, social inclusion and sustainable futures for young migrants
