From 4 to 6 July, the Intercultural Cities (ICC) Programme was present in the Europe Pavilion at this year’s edition of Multitude Festival in the Georges Valbon park of La Courneuve in the French Département of Seine-Saint-Denis.

The ICC delegation (ICC members and secretariat) joined other participants from the “Sound of Diversity” CERV project, as well as WELDI (Welcome and Empowerment for Local Dignified Integration), representing more than 10 European countries.

For this second edition of the festival, the Département wished to embrace a European dimension and promote its work on intercultural inclusion. ICC members took an active part in the discussions on 5 July on leveraging cultural diversity in support of local development, using intercultural interaction and dialogue to foster a shared local culture and identity, as well as countering prejudice and disinformation.

The festival is more than just a cultural event: the 2025 Biennale aims to highlight initiatives that bring interculturality to life within the territory and to offer a space for exchange and encounter, where everyone could discover and better understand the cultural richness of Seine-Saint-Denis.
