ICC National networks release their quarterly progress reports

The first 2023 quarterly progress reports of the ICC national networks in Italy (Rete Città del Dialogo - RCD), Portugal (RPCI), and Ukraine (ICC-UA) are now available. They present the progress achieved so far.

Despite the difficult circumstances, members of Ukrainian Intercultural Cities Network continued working to address intercultural, social and economic challenges in their communities and regions. The forum "Rapid Recovery of Ukraine" organised by the government of Luxembourg in January 2023, brought together representatives of 50 Ukrainian cities - including ICC-UA members - and a number of other stakeholders. Fellow intercultural cities of Montreal (Canada); Lublin (Poland) and Stavanger (Norway) provided the ICC-UA network with concrete support and financial assistance. The first Annual ICC-Ukraine local coordinators meeting was also held on 10 March 2023. The city of Vinnytsia, Ukraine, joined the international Placemaking Europe initiative thanks to the sponsorship of the ICC programme, and will share its experience and concept of a project to be launched in one of the marginalised areas of the city with ICC-UA network members in the summer 2023.

In Portugal, two new municipalities were welcomed into RPCI: Paranhos Parish and Barcelos Municipality, raising the number of RPCI member cities to 17. The beginning of the year was also the opportunity to commemorate the 10 years of the RPCI. RPCI has also held an ICC index for training for Portuguese cities on 24 May.

In Italy, the municipality of Zagarolo recently joined the Italian network, bringing its members to 30. Follow up of the ICC Index compilation by engaged cities (Pontedera, Montesilvano and Reggio Emilia) is ongoing and the first version of the compiled index is expected by the end of next quarter. Finally, over 200 municipal employees were trained through the project ITACA, that ended in February 2023 and, based on their experience, the cities of Modena and Reggio Emilia produced the "Guidelines on non-discrimination policies and practices in the municipal administrations".

Both ICC national networks in Italy and Portugal have shared the outcomes of a number of interesting thematic projects they are running through multilateral cooperation.
