ICC national networks – Release of their 2023 annual reports

The Intercultural Cities (ICC) Programme is happy to announce the publication of the yearly reports of the ICC National Networks of Italy (Città del Dialogo), Portugal (RPCI), Spain (RECI) and Ukraine (ICC-UA).

The annual reports inform about the progress of ICC national coalitions of cities, showcasing how to align national with international priorities for the benefit the whole ICC Network.

Città del Dialogo continued implementing a number of projects, including some funded by the European Commission, which bring together several intercultural cities, within the Italian Network and abroad. Some member cities further engaged in capacity building activities, especially on the theme of citizens’ participation for the elaboration of intercultural policies.

RPCI saw its membership expanding in 2023 and welcomed the Parish of Paranhos. That year, the cooperative RPCI coordinated the implementation of three projects: one funded by the Intercultural Cities Programme, and two by the European Commission.

RECI also welcomed new cities to the network – Torremolinos, Getafe and Santander – and had a very busy year which included participation in the newly created ICC Programme Advisory Group. The network also put emphasis on alternative narratives through training and the communication campaign #unviajenecesario (#anecessarytravel).

ICC-UA, despite the challenges of the ongoing military aggression against Ukraine, the network managed, with the support of the City of Stavanger (Norway), to organise its 2023 annual meeting in-person. The network actively contributed to the elaboration and amendement of the new “Law on national minorities (communities) of Ukraine”.
