The Deputy Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia, Svetislav Paunovic, opened the workshop by emphasizing the importance of transparent and inclusive elections, enhancing the role of minorities in public decision-making.

Throughout the two-day workshop, participants discussed key topics, such as the integration of digital tools in elections and pertaining international standards; electoral process and human rights; malpractices and electoral violations affecting voters’ informed and free choice; election observation –  as well as emerging challenges and steps forward, electoral and civic participation.

Interactive group sessions encouraged participants to design strategies for boosting voters’engagement in electoral processes, with special attention to the need for better voter mobilization and education. The discussions offered valuable insights into how Georgia could ensure more inclusive, fair, and accessible elections for all its citizens, particularly those from minorities.

The event concluded with a reflection on the lessons learned and next steps, highlighting the importance of sustained cooperation and reforms to ensure that all citizen in Georgia has an equal opportunity to participate in democratic elections reflecting the voices of every citizen.

The workshop was organised within the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Supporting Transparency, Inclusiveness and Integrity of Electoral Practice and Process in Georgia”.
