In 2025, Finland continued to promote awareness of the role of journalism in democratic society through practical guidance and educational resources. Existing tools include a guide for municipal decision-makers on the role of journalism in society and guidance for social media influencers on responsible practices and engagement in the information environment.
Preparations also began for future training initiatives targeting both journalism students and police students, with the aim of strengthening understanding of journalists’ safety, media freedom and the relationship between journalists and public authorities. These efforts support the forthcoming youth dimension of the Journalists Matter campaign and contribute to building long-term resilience and awareness among future professionals.
