Business and diversity
The “diversity advantage” is real also in business, and there is sound evidence that diverse team, enterprises and communities have strong economic powers and strategic potential in terms of productivity, creativity, problem-solving and innovation.
But to achieve the diversity advantage societies need to ensure not only equal rights but also equal opportunities for all, including in the economic sphere. The local governments can help realise this potential by means of innovative and inclusive economic policies.
Diversity Management approaches in the public-private partnership industry (2021)
The project “Diversity Management approaches in the public-private partnership industry” aims at gathering and transferring knowledge and a methodological approach to achieving real inclusive diversity management in the workplace.
Inclusive recruitment (2021)
The project “Inclusive Recruitment” worked on ways and means to encourage employers to hire migrants and newcomers, taking advantage from diversity.
The project "Diversitours" is based on a specific intercultural business model, consisting in educational and community-led guided walks that empower the local community through co-creation and implementation, while dismantling negative perception and stereotypes about the territory and its residents.
Diversity connectors for Start-ups (2016-2017)
Diversity connectors for Start-ups is a two-year pilot project that will explore good practice examples on how to design diverse business incubators.
Rating Diversity in Business (2016-2017)
The Rating Diversity in Business project focuses on assessing the economic potential of workforce diversity in specific companies to inspire and encourage them to diversify their workforce.
Diversity in the Economy and Local Integration (DELI, 2014-2015)
Diversity in the Economy and Local Integration (DELI) is a project co-funded by the Council of Europe and the European Integration Fund and with the support of the Migration Policy group (MPG), aimed at fostering more efficient local policies in support of migrant-owned SMEs and migrant entrepreneurship as part of wider diversity and inclusion policies.
Implemented in 2014-2015, DELI was based on a partnership network of 10 pilot cities that worked towards systemic change in the economic integration of migrants and reducing gaps in access to rights.
The project fulfilled three major goals:
- Providing support for the development of local partnership platforms with a view to engaging local public and private actors in supporting migrant entrepreneurship at local level;
- Facilitating access of migrant-owned SMEs to public and private procurement;
- Developing quality management standards and assessment tools for local governments supporting the design and implementation of economic policies consistent with the principles of equal treatment, integration and diversity management.
