Support to the justice reform in Armenia

The Project aims to support Armenian authorities to further advance the reform of the judicial system by strengthening its independence, accountability and professionalism. It also aims to aid Armenian authorities to ensure effective implementation of the new criminal justice legislation in line with European human rights standards.
The Project is funded through the Council of Europe Action Plan for Armenia 2023-2026.
The objective is to ensure that the citizens of Armenia enjoy their rights in line with the European standards and benefit from accountable and professional justice system.

Through a combination of tailored policy/legislative, capacity-building and awareness raising actions.
- Criminal justice stakeholders strengthened their capacity to ensure effective implementation of the criminal justice legislation.
- The Ministry of Justice strengthened its capacity to develop administrative procedural legislation aligned with European standards.
- The Supreme Judicial Council strengthened its governance, transparency and operational effectiveness through improved internal procedures.
- The Court of Cassation strengthened the consistency, accessibility and quality of its case-law through deployment and functioning of the citation system.
- The capacity of national institutions and civil society to assess the ongoing justice reform and plan future strategy is strengthened.
