Empowering citizens with tools and skills for simplifying budgetary knowledge has always been my dream. When everyone is able to speak freely, move freely, interact with the legislature/executive/judiciary freely, when there is absolute freedom of the press, that is a true democracy. As a media development expert and social accountability advocate in Nigeria, I have been able to build the capacity of college students on budgetary and public procurement monitoring in Nigeria, through a platform known as UDEME where we have successfully tracked over 4500 projects across 1200 communities with over 2000 reports published across various media platforms. This has led to the completion of many abandoned projects in rural communities. I believe that NOW is the time for young people to GET INVOLVED.
