In his speech to the UN Human Rights Council, Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland expressed concern over the rise of anti-Gypsyism and racial violence towards Roma in Europe, and stressed the need for effective integration policies. "We need to change attitudes among the non- Roma population," he added.
Meetings with Navi Pillay, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Frans Timmermans, Foreign Minister of the Netherlands, Radoslaw Sikorski, Foreign Minister of Poland and Edgars Rinkēvičs, Foreign Minister of Latvia, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Director-General of the UN Office in Geneva, and Guy Ryder, Director General of the International Labour Organisation, are also on the agenda of Mr Jagland's visit to Geneva.
