The Italian Minister for Integration Cécile Kyenge is visiting the Council of Europe for talks with the Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland, the Deputy Secretary General Gabriella Battaini Dragoni, the Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muižnieks and the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly Wojciech Sawicki. An exchange of views with the Committee of Ministers is on the agenda. Ms Kyenge has also addressed the Joint Council on Youth at the European Youth Centre.

In her meeting with Mr Jagland, the discussion focused on integration policies and citizenship, and on-going reforms of Italy's citizenship laws, which were welcomed by the Secretary General.

The Minister also informed the Secretary General of plans to improve the legal status of Roma people in Italy and to combat discrimination.
