At the invitation of the EU Presidency, Thorbjørn Jagland will attend the European Union Western Balkans High Level Meeting in Sarajevo. The 2 June meeting will take stock of integration of the Western Balkans into the European family of nations. The Council of Europe – which counts all Balkan countries as members and is working for the creation of a Europe without dividing lines – offers its unique perspective: ‘’As the guardian of the European Convention on Human Rights and a codified system of human rights protection, we are playing a particularly important role in integrating the Balkans into a Europe based on common values,’’ the Secretary General said ahead of the meeting.
