The Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejčinović Burić, has expressed her deep concern over reports of the opening on 8th October of the beach and coastline of Varosha.
The Secretary General underlined that the relevant UN Security Council resolutions on this matter must be respected and that dialogue should resume.
The Secretary General reiterated that unilateral actions on this issue cannot be constructive and should therefore be avoided.
The Council of Europe stands ready to support UN-sponsored efforts for dialogue, she added.
