Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland visits Poland on 4-5 April

On 4 April, Mr Jagland will have meetings with:

  • The President of Poland, Mr Andrzej Duda
  • The Prime Minister, Ms Beata Szydło
  • The Speaker of the Sejm Mr Marek Kuchciński
  • The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Witold Waszczykowski
  • The Minister of Justice, Mr Zbigniew Ziobro
  • The Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Mr Piotr Gliński
  • NGO representatives

Topics of discussion include Poland’s relations with the Council of Europe, the European Convention on Human Rights and democratic security, the migration crisis the Venice Commission’s opinion on the Constitutional Tribunal and media legislation.

On 5 April:

The Secretary General will meet the Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr Adam Bodnar.

Mr Jagland will then visit the Jewish cemetery in Frampol and the local school which has supported its renovation, in the framework of the Council of Europe’s cultural Convention. The visit will be followed by a short ceremony at the Jewish Cemetery.

Press briefing: Mr Jagland will give a press briefing on his visit at the Sheraton Hotel on Monday from 16:30 to 17:00 in the Amsterdam/Athens room, Prusa 2, 00-493 Warsaw.
