Secretary General meets the new French parliamentary delegation

The Secretary General and members of the French delegation today discussed key issues for the Council of Europe in a difficult political and budgetary context.

“The Council of Europe must remain a unifying force for a tangible and powerful ideal; the protection of human rights,” said Nicole Trisse, Chair of the French delegation to the PACE.

“As a founding member and the host country, France plays an active role.  Together we shall continue to address the challenges facing us,” said Mr Jagland who referred to President Macron’s strong commitment to the Council of Europe.

France will be chairing the Committee of Minister from May to November 2019, as the Organisation celebrates its 70th anniversary.
