“Your voice for democracy” consultation: last days to submit proposals, then citizens vote for the ideas that matter most

Citizens have until 4 November, 23:59 CET, to submit their proposals to Your voice for democracy, the Europe-wide consultation under the Council of Europe's New Democratic Pact for Europe. From 5 to 12 November, everyone will be able to vote on the proposals received.

Since 12 October, people in the 46 member states of the Council of Europe have been answering one question: What needs to change for democracy to work better for you?

Given the number and range of proposals received, the consultation's final week will be dedicated only to voting for the submitted proposals. This will allow citizens to identify the most meaningful ideas.

From citizens' ideas to the new Democratic Pact for Europe

The citizen’s consultation follows a first consultation phase in the context of the Pact that listened to governments, parliamentarians, local and regional authorities, international partners, civil society, academia and the private sector.

Together, the ideas collected through the consultation can make a change: the results will feed into the final outputs of the Pact, expected in 2027, which will serve as a basis for decision makers to renew their commitment to democracy.

Voting is open to all from 5 November, including people who have not submitted a proposal.

  • Until 4 November, 23:59 CET: submit a proposal
  • 5 - 12 November: vote on existing proposals
