Within the framework of the Reykjavik Declaration, which calls for actively advancing compliance with the Organisation’s ambitious standards beyond European borders, the Council of Europe Secretariat held a meeting with Colombian authorities to advance the accession of the MEDICRIME Convention.
The discussions centred on promoting the Convention’s key provisions and objectives as a robust international framework for combating the falsification of medical products and other similar crimes.
Participants received a detailed overview of the Convention's criminal law provisions, international cooperation mechanisms and the concrete benefits of accession. This initiative forms part of the Secretariat's persistent efforts to promote the Convention in the region aimed at strengthening global public health safeguards and encouraging broader engagement with this essential criminal law instrument.
