An information meeting to engage French-speaking countries in the efforts of the Working Group on the “unauthorised removal, including theft, from the medical supply chain of medical products” took place on 21 January 2025. The session brought together representatives from Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Congo, Chad, Tunisia, and Cameroon.
Chaired by Ms Verica Trbic, the meeting aimed to both encourage francophone participants in the Working Group’s activities and to discuss recent developments, challenges, and the work plan regarding unauthorised removal and theft affecting medical products.
Participants shared updates on relevant national legislation, challenges in data collection, developments in regulatory frameworks, and country-specific experiences. The importance of establishing reliable data and enhancing inter-agency cooperation was underlined.
This information meeting directly supports the MEDICRIME Committee's goal of expanding participation, paving the way for stronger involvement of additional countries in the working group’s work.
