On 29 April 2021 the Council of Europe project " Support for judicial institutions and processes to strengthen access to justice in Ukraine " jointly with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and Free Legal Aid Coordination Centre organised a round table: "Development of quality standards for the provision of free legal aid in civil and administrative cases". The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, regional centers for free secondary legal aid, representatives of the National Bar Association of Ukraine, experts and representatives of the Council of Europe, academics.
During the round table, Olexander Ovchynnykov, an expert of the Council of Europe, a lawyer (Strasbourg), presented an overview of existing practices on evaluation of the quality of legal aid in the Council of Europe member states
After discussing of problematic issues of national quality standards for free legal aid in civil and administrative cases, the participants expressed a join position on the necessity to establish a working group on improving these standards.
