On 28 March 2018 during the plenary meeting of the XII session of Chernigiv Oblast Council the councillors approved the decision on launching Chernigiv Oblast Media Contest on decentralisation and local self-government reform.

The Contest Statute was developed in the basis of adapted to the regional context the methodology of the All-Ukrainian Contest on media coverage of local self-government and decentralisation reforms that was launched jointly by the Council of Europe and Minregion of Ukraine in 2016.

The Contest will be financed from the regional budget and implemented in 2018 with the Council of Europe pilot methodological assistance.
