Call for participants: Training course

The Council of Europe Project “Youth for Democracy in Ukraine: Phase III” in co-operation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and the State Institution “All-Ukrainian Youth Centre” invite youth workers to take part in a training course “Trauma Informed Youth Work” of the State Programme "Youth Worker" on 26-28 July 2023. The idea of a training course arose during the implementation of the programme “Trauma Informed Youth Work” within the framework of the Council of Europe projects “Youth for Democracy in Ukraine: Phase II” and “Internal Displacement in Ukraine: Developing Durable Solutions. Phase II” in 2022.

The goal and objectives of the training course

Goal

Strengthening the capacity of youth workers to implement educational and awareness-raising activities in the context of trauma informed youth work.    

Objectives

  • Exploring the role of youth work in the human rights context and trauma awareness.
  • Exchange of practices of trauma-informed youth work in Ukraine and abroad, networking between youth workers.
  • Studying the peculiarities of organizing and conducting educational and educational activities with young people, taking into account the trauma informed approach.

09.00-12.00, 14.00-17.00 (Kyiv time)

Methodology

The course is based on the methodology of non-formal education and in particular:

  • involves the active participation of each and every one;
  • focuses on participants;
  • involves learning life skills and preparing for active citizenship;
  • is based on the application of individual and group learning based on a collective approach;
  • is holistic and process-oriented;
  • based on experience and activities;
  • organised taking into account the needs of participants.

The course provides synchronous learning on the ZOOM platform (total duration – 18 hours) and asynchronous online learning using the Moodle learning platform (total duration – 6 hours). The total duration of the course is 24 hours/0.8 ECTS.

Participants' profile

  • be over 18 years old;
  • youth workers working directly with young people;
  • person who combine work with young people with administrative and organizational activities in the field of youth policy;
  • be a graduate of basic level trainings of the State Programme "Youth Worker".

The Council of Europe welcomes applications from all candidates who fit a specific profile of activity, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, marital or parental status, racial, ethnic or social origin, colour or religion of or belief.

Selection procedure

All interested parties are invited to fill out the online application form at the link until 5 July 2023.

Based on the results of the submitted applications, up to 25 participants will be selected based on the above profile. We will endeavour, as far as possible, to respect the priorities of organisations, as well as to ensure gender and geographical balance. A waiting list may be created. Candidates will be informed whether their application is accepted or rejected, and whether they are on a waiting list, by 10 July 2023.

The evaluation of applications and the selection of participants will be carried out by the organising committee of the project, which includes representatives of the Council of Europe, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and the State Institution "All-Ukrainian Youth Centre".

The organisers of the training-seminar are the Council of Europe Project "Youth for Democracy in Ukraine: Phase III" in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and the State Institution " All-Ukrainian Youth Centre".

The Project «Youth for Democracy in Ukraine: Phase III» is carried out in the framework of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine 2023-2026 and was built on the results and experience of the projects “Youth for Democracy in Ukraine” in 2020-2022. The Project will extend the systematic influence by strengthening participatory youth policies and reinforce youth work in the war and in a post war context, taking into account the specific needs of young people.
