On September 21, 2023, the Council of Europe Project «Facilitating housing solutions for the war-affected people in Ukraine» together with the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine held a round table at which recommendations for improving the basic principles of housing policy were discussed.

The event was a logical continuation of four public discussions held by the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine in July-August 2023 regarding the new housing legislation in Ukraine. The event was attended by representatives of central executive authorities, international organizations, experts and members of the Working Group on improving the basic principles of housing policy.

During the discussion, research and proposals for improving housing policy were presented, proposals for public discussions were developed, and proposals for legislative regulation of the main principles of housing policy were discussed. The key challenges of implementing the new housing policy were also highlighted, in particular for internally displaced persons and war-affected people in Ukraine.

According to the Memorandum of Cooperation with the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, the Project will continue to provide technical and expert support to the national authorities of Ukraine to improve the legislative framework regarding housing solutions for internally displaced persons and war-affected people in Ukraine.
