In the framework of the EU Youth Week - LevelUp event organised by the European Youth Forum and hosted in the European Economic and Social Committee and the EU Parliament in Brussels, the Council of Europe’s unit on hate speech, hate crimes and AI, held several workshops for youth civil society organisations.

Over 200 participants took part in the workshop and got to know how to use the Toolkit for human rights speech to civil society organisations. The participants coming from youth organisations practiced how to build counter and alternative narratives which promote equal access to human rights.

The workshops were held in the framework of the project “Increasing civil society organisations’ knowledge and capacity to counter hate speech online”. The project aims to increase exchanges of knowledge and strengthen the capacity and coordination between CSOs and other partners who respond to hate speech online using counter and alternative narratives (CANs).
